Inserts and Fasteners

Inserts and Fasteners are often great candidates for over-molding, but sometimes it is more economical to install these items after molding is complete. This can easily be done through heat staking or ultrasonic insertion. As the name implies, heat staking involves the application of heat and pressure to push the inset into a molded hole while simultaniously melting the plastic surrounding the insert. Ultrasonic insertion is very similar to heat staking, except that ultrasonic (vibration) energy is applied to melt the plastic instead of direct heat.
